Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for buildings managed by Hank Kimmel reveal a mix of experiences. Many praise the responsive and attentive management, well-maintained lobbies, helpful doormen, and spacious apartments in good locations. However, some buildings suffer from noise issues caused by neighbors and ongoing construction, along with ventilation problems in older structures. Pest control, particularly roach infestations, is a recurring concern despite efforts to address it. Garbage management and water pressure are generally rated positively. While many tenants recommend these buildings for their safety and community, stricter noise enforcement and enhanced pest control are frequently advised to improve tenant satisfaction.

Wouldn't rent here again

Pros

Location is good if you work in midtown. Lobby is freshly renovated. Apartment is spacious.

Cons

Building itself is very old and the structure feels dated. Apartments are poorly ventilated and feel stuffy despite the square footage, walls and ceilings are thin, and several neighbors (especially those paying lower prices in sponsored units) have no sense of respect for others' peace and quiet. The building has a serious roach infestation, and we see at least one or two roaches in our unit per week despite having sealed off multiple openings.

Advice to the owners

Hire an exterminator for the roach problem, and have strict requirements on tenants making noise, especially after quiet hours.
