Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for buildings managed by Maryann Baumrind reveal a mixed management experience. Positive feedback highlights responsive, professional management teams and attentive supers who promptly address urgent maintenance and pest control issues. Several buildings are well-located with friendly neighbors and reasonably priced units. However, recurring themes include persistent pest problems (particularly roaches and mice), inconsistent cleanliness in common areas, occasional noise, and slow or inadequate responses in some properties. Older buildings often show signs of neglect such as outdated infrastructure and maintenance delays. Rent-stabilized tenants sometimes feel deprioritized. Prospective renters should expect varied conditions, with management generally reactive but sometimes slow or insufficient in comprehensive upkeep and tenant communication.

Overall good place

Pros

great location and building is mostly clean and no problems. management a little slow but never have any problems with them

Cons

A bit noisy on street side/thin walls to hallway

Pests are unavoidable

Pros

Management responded to emails relatively quickly. The building was relatively quiet and neighbors were either friendly or not much interaction. Great location, nice looking renovated apartment unit.

Cons

Consistent roach issue, including dead bugs in building hallways. No amount of pest treatment has curbed the issue (multiple years), building is old and having roaches seems inevitable. Management prioritizes market rate tenant needs and service requests over rent stabilized tenants.

Advice to the owners

Improved cleanliness of shared building areas. Pest issue is the main con, recommend finding a way to more thoroughly address it building-wide (beyond optional monthly service)
