Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for buildings managed by Richard Tempesta reveal a significant disparity in experiences. Some highlight excellent location benefits, friendly neighbors, and responsive management, particularly at 204 Spring Street in Manhattan. However, serious concerns persist across other properties, including poor cleanliness, inadequate heat, rampant pest issues, and ineffective garbage management. Complaints frequently mention unprofessional behavior, lack of legal adherence, and slow or dismissive owner responsiveness. Noise levels and safety are also points of dissatisfaction in certain buildings. Overall, prospective renters should anticipate inconsistent management quality, with notable challenges around maintenance and tenant relations depending on the specific property.

Check violations with the city before you rent this place.

Pros

Location is great as the train C and E is across from this building and Tradar Joes and CVS in the next block.

Cons

The landlord is terrible people. They have tones and are rude. There are times that they sound nice but usually don’t respect you. If you are new to New York City and don’t know much about New York housing law or the cultures here, they will take advantage of you and charge you more rent. And they don’t follow the law. If they decides to kick you out, they would use any lie to file a lawsuits against you. Also they don't respect women. They will talk over you and chunk you off with very unprofessional manners until you bring another male to talk to them. Heat often did not work the winter of 2022 but the landlord told each tenant you are only one who's complaining. We had a very cold November 2022 winter and 2023 winter in our apartments. So many rats around the garbage areas. They mean to violate laws. They charge high rent for its condition and target tenants to live just a year or two.

Advice to the owners

Follow the law and while I understand your business point of view, greed does not get you anywhere but go south.
