Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Aaron Sussman's buildings are a mixed experience based on tenant reviews. Positive notes include clean, well-maintained buildings with attentive supers and friendly neighbors, especially at 182 Bennett Avenue. However, some properties, notably 140 Van Cortlandt Avenue West, struggle with persistent heating issues, pest infestations, and package theft. Laundry facilities often require quarters, and communication from management varies, with some tenants citing slow or indifferent responses. While some buildings offer a familial atmosphere and good location, others suffer from neglect in maintenance and pest control. Prospective renters should expect variability in management responsiveness and property conditions across his portfolio.

Really enjoyed living here!

Pros

I lived here for three years and never found it to be anything but a pleasure. It's a great apartment, the super is attentive, the building is well maintained, and it's a great family building.

Cons

Honestly, all good!

Beautiful apartments. Terrible heating!

Pros

Neighbors are nice and you rarely get your packages stolen. Apartments are beautiful and very spacious. Lots of closet space.

Cons

The heating is awful and the windows don't help. They are older windows and the draft feels like they're open. They are super thin windows as well, so you hear everything. In addition to the lack of heating having the windows in such a poor state means the apartments aren't able to retain the little heat they give. Apartments are beautiful and spacious, but poorly maintained. Floors squeak and door knobs are constantly falling off. Has a problem with pink bacteria and mold.

Advice to the owners

Stop turning the heat off over night.
