The elevator could be a little bit cleaner. From time to time, there is water on the floor in the basement where the washing machines are due to rain.
Nice enough building with caveats
Pros
Super's nice, mostly responsive if you bug him, rent is cheap depending on the apartment, they're trying to fix it up. It's a solid old prewar. High ceilings. When they renovate the apartments they do a good job.
Cons
Watch out for the lease you're signing. I got what I thought was a rent-stabilized lease but my apartment is actually owned by a condo association run by the management, so I'm a sublettor. The rapacious broker is actually part of the management and charged me a fee to MOVE WITHIN THE BUILDING. This building allows for section 8. I'm okay with that except for the hoarder on the third floor who leaves his door open in the summer and stinks the whole floor up. There's at least one other fellow like that on the 5th floor. Smelly as hell. And the laundry in the basement gets a fly infestation every summer.
Advice to the owners
More oversight of these hoarders please. We had to beg and needle and demand to get that guy on 3 cleaned up.
