Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant reviews of buildings managed by KATHERINE STEFANIAK indicate a generally positive experience. The buildings are well-renovated and clean, with efficient heating and good water pressure. Residents appreciate the amenities and location but highlight issues with the landlord's responsiveness. While pest control and cleanliness are well-maintained, minor concerns include slow responses to requests and delayed security deposit refunds. Overall, tenants recommend the buildings for their quality living spaces, but suggest improved communication and more timely assistance from the landlord to enhance the overall experience.

Comfortable nicely renovated place, absent landlord

Pros

Overall it was a good place to live and would recommend it. The units are nicely renovated, big modern kitchen, with decent sized bedrooms (varies, around ~12x9ft), pretty good sound insulation between floors/rooms, effective mini-split style heat/AC, and pretty clean. Rent includes a cleaner who does the kitchen and bathrooms once a month so it never gets too bad. Landlord has been fair with rent increases so far just matching inflation. Haven't seen any bug/rodent problems, besides occasional ants (twice in a few years) and sometimes you see a centipede.

Cons

Landlord is very nice to deal with directly and seems to have good intentions and does help with some things to be fair, but takes forever to respond to other issues, randomly ignores messages, and promises things that don't happen unless you continually nag him (like says someone will come do something but it doesn't happen). Only one washer and dryer for the whole building and it costs a lot ($3.75 each). I also heard former tenants say it takes forever to get your security deposit back.

Advice to the owners

A little more responsiveness to issues would go a long way in an an otherwise great place.
