Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants renting from Mitchell Grossman often enjoy spacious apartments in convenient East Village locations with features like elevators and natural light. However, many express significant frustration with persistent issues like inadequate heat, frequent maintenance problems, and poor building cleanliness, including pest infestations. A common complaint is chronic unresponsiveness from management and the landlord, especially regarding urgent repairs and package theft problems. The lack of modern conveniences such as online rent payments and updates to building security and hallways is also noted. Overall, while the apartments offer good size and location, renters frequently feel neglected and advise management to improve communication, maintenance responsiveness, and building upkeep.

Perfect apartment but the landlord is god awful

Pros

Great space, decent price, beautiful apartment, convenient location

Cons

Same issue as all the comments here. Lack of heat, stolen packages, never response, issues never address even though super checked them out. Every time an issue was bought up, the landlord would give some half ass excuses to not address it. Building has cameras but you can’t check it to see who took your packages, many apartments have heat issues but they refused to look at the root cause of heating issue (the system is not strong enough)

Advice to the owners

Stop being so horrible

STAY FAR AWAY

Pros

Huge bedroom sizes, eat in kitchen, crown moulding, location, elevator, rooftop

Cons

Horrible sanitation, my shower was filled with brown water that wouldn’t drain and they wouldn’t fix it. No heat in the winter. Landlord is nonexistent and hires really suspicious and neglectful supers. PACKAGE THIEVES DESPITE HAVING A PACKAGE CHUTE. Called 311 SEVERAL TIMES. I had to threaten with a letter from the AG to get my security deposit back.
