Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant reviews indicate that buildings managed by Kevin Cooper offer affordable rent but frequently suffer from management issues. Residents report significant cleanliness concerns, including pest infestations and package theft. While some praise Kevin's responsiveness, they highlight the need for systematic upgrades to the building's infrastructure, such as enhanced security measures and improved heating and water pressure systems. Though some enjoy the camaraderie among neighbors and the central location, many express frustration over overall maintenance and organization. In conclusion, potential renters should weigh the budget-friendly prices against ongoing management and maintenance challenges.

Has problems but can be overlooked due to the cheap price

Pros

Rent is super affordable for the area, very close to the subway, and a lot of bus lines that can get you anywhere really quickly and reliably. The building manager is also pretty responsive to issues and usually sends the super within a day or so to fix whatever's needed. Management is easy to work with as well no issues with them.

Cons

Very old building and hasn't been refurbished at all. Saw 1 to 2 roaches in the hallway, dead during the summer, but nothing inside the apartment. Didn't see any rodents either on the higher floors, but did hear of them from the bottom-floor residents whenever there's construction happening on the street or basement. Also regularly noticed violation notices from the city taped to the front door so frequently. Water pressure was a nightmare; whenever the toilet was flushed, both the shower and kitchen sink pressures would drop till the toilet tank was filled. Basically, any room besides the street-facing room lives in darkness for most of the day. Package theft is so rampant I didn't dare to order anything important unless it can be picked up in store or to a UPS access point. Intercom is also an older system so on top of package theft I'd also hear constant buzzing later in the night, every night, by some homeless people trying to get in for shelter. Since there's no video system couldn't verify who they were.

Advice to the owners

Set up a camera system for the front door at least to help with the constant package thefts.
