Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Reviews for buildings managed by Eddie Yalcin indicate a mixed experience among tenants. Many appreciate the spacious apartments and decent heating, while the neighborhood is deemed convenient. However, concerns are prevalent regarding management: residents find the superintendent rude and unhelpful, with slow responses to maintenance issues. Garbage management is notably poor, alongside a lack of cleanliness throughout the building. Additionally, communication with the landlord appears to be problematic, leaving tenants feeling neglected. While some recommend living in these buildings for their space and location, overall satisfaction suffers due to management deficiencies and pest control issues.

Owner Hard to Reach, Superintendent Rude

Pros

I love that this building has spacious, open apartments with old world details, and is generally affordable. The neighborhood is also great. They also recently started accepting digital (Zelle, etc) rent payments (as of July 2026) which is a huge improvement from the paper checks I was previously required to mail.

Cons

The superintendent Eddie and his wife are rude, confrontational, and always ask for my unit number and micromanage when I need to bring things in and out of my apartment (for example a few boxes of books or china). This feels like a violation of my privacy. They also act like they own the place, and hang their laundry out in the basement and the courtyard to dry while denying tenants those same privileges. The super also told me that I could move in via the first floor door when I obtained my apartment keys from him and the broker, (since my unit is near the entrance) but then denied saying that, when I did move in and caused a big fuss. The building owner David is hard to reach on the phone, and I almost always get an answering machine. It’s frustrating because the only way to get maintenance issues resolved is to go through the super Eddie, but he doesn’t give out his phone number, hence needing to reach David, which is semi impossible. Also the courtyard isn’t well maintained, and often fills up with trash. Other than that, the neighbors are nice, it’s a great area.

Advice to the owners

Answer the phone more, call your tenants back, and hold the superintendent Eddie to higher standards of cleanliness, professionalism and building maintenance. That would go far to improve my experience.

Over priced for what you get

Pros

Heat is great. Units are sunny and they’re large apartments.

Cons

1st floor units have much more of a pest problem. Especially unit 1A which located directly above the trash room. Constant influx of roaches. The building is old and between floors is not soundproofed or insulated. You hear everything going on above you. Units are renovated periodically but only kitchens and bathrooms. Doors have been repeatedly painted over and won’t close. Windows are pretty old and busted especially the screens. Finally, very little is done to keep Galway’s and stairwells clean extremely dusty and dirty. Finally, as is usual with NYC supers this one can be very confrontational and not really proactive. Expect to wait a while to get things repaired.

Advice to the owners

KEEP IT CLEAN!!!! I could see paying what’s asked if the building were just better maintained.
