Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant feedback for buildings managed by Matthew Schmelzer reveals significant challenges, including poor cleanliness, ineffective pest control, and slow or absent management responsiveness. Many reports cite safety concerns tied to tenant screening inadequacies, leading to drug activity and disruptive neighbors. Heating and maintenance issues are frequently noted, with some praising a few helpful supers but overall describing inconsistent upkeep. Garbage management and water pressure quality vary, with several comments pointing to an unwelcoming and noisy environment. While a handful of properties show modest improvements or positive neighbor interactions, the overarching tenant sentiment stresses the urgent need for better management accountability, property renovations, and stringent resident screening to improve living conditions.

Pros

Close to several train lines and St. Nick park.

Cons

Loud, rude and unclean tenants. A super who makes it clear that he hates his job. Deteriorating building. Too expensive for what you get.

Advice to the owners

Renovate building and better screen tenants.
