Do not rent if you cannot live with roaches day by day
Pros
Building management is so bad you can totally keep animals that’s allowed. My building doesn’t allow dogs but my neighbor has one and the dog barks all night. Also you get to see those freakishly large cockroaches like a horror movie. Good building if you like animals or horror
Cons
Roach infestation is real in the building. Nothing stops them. They don’t eat baits and they have babies next to a gentrol. They have outlived all tenants in the building and they will live until you decide to move out. If you are clean, the roaches will eat your book glue and residue around your face cream. It doesn’t matter if you are tidy or clean; winter either too much heat or no heat at all. No middle ground for that. Also there are odd dusty fallout if you live on fourth floor. The dust has a glass fiber kind of texture and occasionally are red. I don’t know what they are but I have allergies that cannot be tested out since I move in (I stuck around for two years because it is cheap for the space) and my never smoked a cigarettes neighbor got lung cancer. DO NOT RENT this place
You get what you pay for
Pros
Nice and responsive super. Good location—close to the train, shopping, etc. the lobby gets cleaned on a regular bases and it’s safe. It’s rent stabilized and cheap and units are spacious.
Cons
Noisy neighbors who let their multiple kids run and scream wild in the building. Paper thin walls to where you can hear someone’s closet doors opening and closing. The walkways smell old and nasty due to poor ventilation and because it’s an old building. If you want a peaceful and quiet building, this is not the one.
