Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for buildings managed by RIPEL LLC consistently report severe management issues. Complaints emphasize unresponsiveness, lack of proper heating, pest infestations (mice and roaches), and poor cleanliness. Garbage disposal areas are frequently described as unhygienic, contributing to rodent problems. Maintenance is often slow or ineffective, with repairs done by unqualified personnel. Several renters mention unfair security deposit deductions and difficult communication, often limited to email without emergency contact access. Despite a prime location in Manhattan's East Village, tenants describe the landlord's attitude as inflexible and sometimes rude, discouraging those seeking responsive or supportive management.

Advice to the owners

You should not be an owner

The worst I have ever seen

Pros

Location, nothing about the building itself

Cons

Has the worst landlord I have ever seen. No heat in the winter, then tortured us by overheating once the heat came on. No windows in the living room so it couldn't be ventilated. Every apartment has mice even if you don't always see them. Have seen roaches too. Landlord will steal as much of the security deposit as she can from you. The person they send for maintenance is not a real handyman and does not know what he's doing at all. Don't expect anything to get fixed if you have an issue.

Advice to the owners

Stop overheating the apartments during the winter, it was unbearable. Please hire a real handyman who knows how to fix things. Please stop trying to steal security deposit money.
