Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants renting buildings managed by Jonathan Kaye report mixed experiences with notable discrepancies between buildings. Positive feedback highlights responsive superintendents who quickly address issues, good security, and generally clean common areas in some properties. Pest control is effective in certain buildings, with pests being minimal. However, several reviews mention severe pest infestations, slow and inadequate management responsiveness, unreliable heating, poor maintenance, and structural problems like leaks and floor damage. Package theft and outdated buzzer/security systems are recurring concerns. Tenants also express frustration with high rents not matching the quality or amenities offered. Overall, expect attentive staff in some buildings, but be mindful of inconsistency in maintenance and pest control.

Great Building !

Pros

Never had any pest or rodent issues. The supers and people that take care of the building were always friendly and responsive. If we called late at night about an issue they would be there within an hour.

Cons

Expensive and no amenities

So Many Pests

Pros

Good location in the East Village.

Cons

Lived there for one year, we had mice all year long we couldn't get rid of even with constant exterminator visits. The unit also had so many spiders and drain flies, also saw several roaches. My bedroom window and the living room window were completely covered with vines growing up the building from the garden so I had no light coming into my room. Our unit would flood the unit below when we showered. The heat stopped working for a whole weekend in the winter when it was around 10 degrees. Packages constantly were stolen. After all of this they tried to raise our rent 30% at the end of the year.
