House manager stole from me

Cons
The “house manager” who was living there free stole my suitcase and expensive things when I went out of town. Her excuse was “I didn’t hear from you” even though rent was paid. I began to get uncomfortable because she would sit in the living room stinking up the place and gossiping on the phone all day/night trying to converse with me right with I walked in. I put In my one month notice and that same month left for a little bit, when I returned BEFORE my lease was up she went unlocked my room stole my suitcase and 500+ dollar shoes. When i returned she looked like she saw a ghost and got snappy with me.
Advice to the owners
Do better. Nobody wants to live with a thief. She was black from Ohio
