Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback under Lea Maswary's management reveals chronic pest issues, notably roaches, mice, and bed bugs, severely impacting living quality. Maintenance and cleanliness receive low marks, with complaints about unclean common areas and insufficient sanitation efforts. Heat provision is inconsistent, and building staff, including supers, are often described as unresponsive or unprofessional. Garbage management is mediocre at best. While some appreciate the spacious, rent-stabilized units and quiet neighbors, overall management responsiveness and pest control efforts fall short, causing significant tenant dissatisfaction and strong recommendations against renting in these buildings. Improvements in pest extermination and staff professionalism are essential.

Pre-War Charm with Pre-War Problems

Pros

- Gorgeous building - Great neighborhood - Friendly neighbors - Spacious units - Rent stabilized (huge perk!)

Cons

- PESTS PESTS PESTS !!!!! I lived in this building for 3.5+ years (2019-2023) so I am very capable of speaking to the pest situation in this building. The entire time I lived there, there were signs on all the garbage shoots warning tenants that the roach infestation had reached “an emergency level” and to be mindful of throwing away trash responsibly. Of course I didn’t see the signs until I moved in. Roaches were a huge issue. I top of this, the last year I lived there I had a mice infestation (I killed 10-15 mice) and I HAD BED BUGS!!!!! It was like living in a nightmare that just kept getting worse. The super did the absolute bare minimum to maintain the building. The maintenance group does the same. If it wasn’t for the pests it would be a great building for the price- I loved living there. But I fully had trauma after moving out from all I had endured on the pest front. Horrific.

Advice to the owners

DO BETTER WITH THE ROACHES, MICE & BED BUGS

Has potential if it wasnt for mold and rodents

Pros

Accessible to transportation. Nice area and nice neighbors

Cons

On the outside it looks like a well maintained building but once you live here it’s a wrap for that delusion. The building is infested with mice and roaches. No matter what you do they don’t seem to go away. There’s a disturbing amount of mold in my bathroom. The super is aggressive and doesn’t help with any of your issues . Most neighbors are quiet and nice but there’s a few that can act a lil trashy.

Advice to the owners

Hire a new super and actually exterminate the rodents… not just spraying stuff
