Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for Arik Lifshitz-owned buildings show mixed experiences with management. Many highlight responsive and helpful supers who maintain cleanliness and ensure safety, especially at buildings like 11 Maiden Lane. However, issues with unresponsive or rude owners, especially regarding heating, pest control, and repair delays, are frequently noted. Several tenants report persistent pest problems, elevator breakdowns, and unreliable garbage management. Noise disturbances and security concerns also recur, with some tenants citing problems with vagrants and package theft. While some apartments are praised for location and space, overall management inconsistency, maintenance lapses, and occasional landlord hostility temper renter satisfaction.

Great spot to live, with some caveats

Pros

The area is excellent. I truly enjoy being so close to 1st Ave - also it is not nearly as noisy as living on an avenue. The neighbors are great, other than the kids who live downstairs and love DJing into the odd hours of the night. Haven't seen any pests in a while, only a few cockroaches when we first moved in (hole was patched by management). However it isn't an overwhelming problem.

Cons

The super doesn't really do anything. You really have be on top of it and keep pestering him to fix any problem. He's a really nice guy, just a bit lazy. Additionally, the radiator in my room did not work at all. It kept making a clunking noise throughout the night, and when I asked the super to fix it, he tried to replace the valve/increase the angle. However, this did not work. I used a space heater for the rest of the winter. I think it's a problem within the building pipes that need much bigger repairs.

Okay Experience (all apts are Alohause owned)

Pros

On a happening location! Not a lot of floors. big rooms are big enough. digital code access.

Cons

They do what they want when they want - repairs, removing/installing AC etc. without coordinating.
