Nice property until they price you out
Former Tenant
Pros:
24/7 doormen, laundry, gym and resident lounge, spacious apartments
Cons:
Elevators are often out of service, rent hikes and 421 fees each year, management is slow to respond to time-sensitive maintenance requests
Advice to owner:
More than one elevator should work in a 50 floor building

-Apartments are small
-No in unit laundry
-Always raises the rent

Deceptive landlord practices
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice location, great views on the higher floors, lovely concierge staff
Cons:
Poorly maintained building. Only 2 elevators servicing the entire 34 story building and 1 elevator is often out. Be prepared to wait for 10 minutes for the elevator and then stop on every floor.
Also, landlord engages in deceptive practices around renewal time. They will try to get you to renew at the highest possible price. However, if you give notice, they place the apartment on the market at a competitive market price. Average cost of rent increase of the past years was 15-20% each time at renewal. After 4 years, last renewal would have made the total price increase 52%.
Advice to owner:
Stop price gouging. Start taking better care of the building. Fix the elevators.

Management indifferent and not helpful
Former Tenant
Pros:
Spacious, quiet, nice rooftop view
Cons:
Appliances kept getting broken, maintenance team ignored all the requests, garbage not removed
Advice to owner:
Care or at least pretend to care about their tenants

Spacious and great location
Former Tenant
Pros:
Lovely staff, spacious apartments, A/C and heaters are great, lots of elevators, the view, and great location for almost trains and parks
Cons:
Some of the community spaces take longer to get fixed, 421a fees can become outrageous, dog friendly building but some owners don’t respect the common spaces with their dogs (untrained or letting them go at the front door)

Great, clean luxury apartment building
Former Tenant
Pros:
great friendly staff, timely assistance whenever needed, events held by building management for tenants (e.g. wine tasting, christmas cookies,), nice amenities although there is a amenity fee.
Cons:
Have to pay for all utilities including heat and water. Large rent increases year on year.

Cons:

We had a good overall experience at the Brooklyner
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice roof deck with amazing views, no broker fees, decent amenities (that most other tenants didn't take advantage of), never saw any bugs/pests, almost never heard noise from neighbors, management is responsive to work orders for fixes in the apartment, washer/dryer and dishwasher in unit, good access to public transportation
Cons:
Elevators could be unreliable for very busy, package room system was hectic and sometimes unreliable, somewhat small floor plans, not willing to negotiate on rent renewals, neighborhood is light on things to do and sometimes a bit sketchy in places,

Worth the Price
Former Tenant
Pros:
-friendly and attentive staff
Cons:
-wood beetles in apartment
Good overall experience with this landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
Free amenities that are not over-used. You can usually get a seat on the roof or space in the gym. The building is responsive to issues with lighting and appliances in the kitchen.
Cons:
Laundry room had lots of issues, and the landlord wasn't the most responsive. Issues mounted and they ended up switching laundry service providers.

Great place to live, neighborhood is weird
Former Tenant
Pros:
Building is great, one of the best rooftops in the city. good gym, neighbors. Staff is professional, responsive
Cons:
Elevators are hit or miss some days, waits can be long. Expensive.

good 3 years, few complaints
Former Tenant
Pros:
great location, friendly staff, ac works really well, washers always available
Cons:
closet space a bit tight, tiny gym, south facing unit retained so much heat had to have ac running 24/7
Over 2 years ago
Great in general, temp control issues
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice amenities, responsive staff, no noise problems with other tenants, have not encountered pests. I can't say enough nice things about the folks at front desk.
Cons:
When the outdoor temp falls into the mid 60s Fahrenheit, the in unit ACs don't work (no central air). My apartment routinely hits 85+ when the outdoor air temp is in the high 50s, which is not great. You'll need to use fans and open windows, which isn't great if you have a pet or a kid.

The problem definitely isn't unique, but it does feel like something you ought not have to deal with at a relatively expensive place.

Cons:
Can be noisy if you live low in the building due to the trash trucks.

Brooklyner
Former Tenant
Pros:
Well maintained, great staff
Cons:
elevators are often out and there can be lines to get an elevator. it seems the building is being sold and some things may not be fixed as quickly.
Advice to owner:
i have been happy there.

Sweeping views of unswept neighborhood
Former Tenant
Pros:
The Brooklyner has a lot going for it: amazing views of the city, a beautiful rooftop, a fully functional gym, and units that are mostly quiet with built in AC/heat units. The staff is very friendly. It is steps away from a number of subway stops and there are a handful of good bars and restaurants nearby.
Cons:
The building can have a bit of a hotel feel and the asking price is steep for small units. The neighborhood can feel quite loud and dirty.

Beautiful amenities
Former Tenant
Pros:
The amenities, including the rooftop and the gym, are beautiful and well-kept.
Cons:
Parkay flooring in the apartments are not in great shape and should be replaced.
Advice to owner:

Loved living here pre-covid
Former Tenant
Pros:
The doorman staff and management are great. Always felt safe. Building very clean. Unit was very clean upon move in. Amenities are nice. Location very convenient.
Cons:
We would still be there if it weren’t for the covid pandemic. Husband and I both work from home now and the apartment didn’t offer enough space to live and work from home.
