Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for buildings managed by Joseph Lax reveals inconsistent management quality. While some units offer spacious apartments, exposed brick, and convenient locations near public transit, frequent issues with pest infestations, poor garbage management, and building neglect emerge. Many tenants report unresponsiveness from the landlord and note long-standing maintenance problems, including flooding, mold, and broken security features. Noise levels and neighborhood safety are concerns in some buildings. Overall, renters advise the management to improve routine upkeep, address pest control seriously, and enhance responsiveness to tenant needs for a better living experience.

Horrible building and villainous landlord, STAY AWAY!

Pros

Apartment was spacious and the backyard is OK

Cons

Landlord was horrible, unresponsive, irresponsible, rude, and aggressive. The unit was gross upon arrival and had signs of pests and flood damage. Past flooding was not disclosed to us as tenants which is very illegal. The backyard was flooded and a cesspool for mosquitoes. Common areas had old tenant mail and belongings. Front of the apartment was poorly maintained. The building itself was poorly maintained and falling apart. The front door and only exit onto the street would frequently get jammed preventing tenants from entering or exiting the property which is quite scary. Joseph is very very rude and evasive over email and will blame the tenant for all things wrong with this apartment.
