Fair Rent and Landlord
Pros
It’s a house so no in-building neighbors! Brand new appliances/renovation that work and look great as of 2023. The rent is extremely reasonable. Landlords are very responsive and nice.
Cons
More outdoor bugs than usual (rolly pollies, ants, centipedes, large cockroaches) because it’s on the ground. Have to take care of your own garbage and recycling. The neighbors are nosy. Not insulated; electricity bills are extremely high (over $300 in February 2025, over $400 in February 2026). The house is not kept up, so lots of issues in winter of 2026. I didn’t have water for 2 months. A large water meter was put in the house in an unprofessional manner. The new water meter keeps leaking. The ceiling leaked. All issues are fixed, but not quickly.
Advice to the owners
Insulate the house, only own as many rentals as you can keep up with.
