Really struggled with living here

Pros

Management is incredibly responsive and responsible. Building is super clean, appliances are top-of-the-line. I have never seen a pest inside this building after 12 months of living here. Not a single roach or mouse dropping. If you have an issue, management will deal with it very fast. Laundry in basement and rooftop are incredibly well-managed.

Cons

The building is right next to a lot of nightclubs. If you aren't from the area or don't know the exact position of the building, you wouldn't know this when you first move in. It's incredibly noisy on evenings of Thursdays-Sundays, sometimes on other days as well. I think the building should warn tenants about this before they sign the lease. Also, the rooms are deceptively small. The heater/AC units are near the floor, so they cut into square footage. The 'closets' are open -- meaning they have racks and bars installed that could have been enclosed by closet doors, but aren't, so that cuts into square footage as well. As a result, a 10x10 room can feel more like 8x8 in terms of usable space. Also, the heating units are really ineffective. They don't heat the rooms properly, and are incredibly expensive on electric bills. They do work well as AC units, though. The big windows and AC/heating units also leak air. There's a ton of air leakage from outside.

Advice to the owners

Tell tenants about noise before they sign a lease. Put closet doors around the racks so they can just have a closet. Do something about the horrible heating situation.

Well, its new construction

Pros

Lots of amenities in the building! In unit ac/heat, elevator, roof access, laundry in the basement, and a dishwasher! Gorgeous big windows, very bright and sunny.

Cons

Poorly ventilated apartment- many tenants complain of mold. Elevator goes out regularly. Unskilled super.

Advice to the owners

A proper superintendent would be excellent
