Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews for properties managed by David Friedman indicate a mix of cleanliness and significant management issues. While buildings are generally well-kept, renters report slow maintenance response times, inadequate security, and disruptive noise levels from neighbors. Problems with garbage management and broken amenities, such as elevators and trash chutes, further detract from the living experience. Tenants express concerns about safety and unresolved issues, suggesting a need for improved communication and responsiveness from management. Overall, while the properties have desirable features, prospective renters should be cautious given the recurring management challenges.

Nice clean building with myriad of issues

Pros

- Building is kept very clean, thanks to the cleaning staff (shoutout to Genesis) - Nice common areas - Pet friendly building

Cons

- No building wifi, which makes the 2nd floor desks much less useful - Package theft is an ongoing issue - Loud domestic disputes, occasionally spill into the hallways, with police called frequently as a result - The car repair shop next door regularly parks in front of the garage entrance, making it difficult to get in/out - Maintenance is bare-minimum, small requests can take weeks to resolve - Frequent security concerns, for example, an intruder broke into the basement and cut power to the entire building and management took over 5 hours to come and flip the breaker back on - Windows aren’t properly sealed, causing constant air leaks - Building manager (Rene) is inconsistently available/responsive - Confusing and inconsistent communication about who the current super is - Trash chutes don’t work, so trash piles up in the refuse rooms (gets smelly and cluttered fast) - $100 Gym fee after first year

Advice to the owners

Invest in basic fixes, building wifi, trash chutes, properly sealed windows, etc… Maintenance response times need improvement, especially for smaller requests. Building security should also be a priority given the recent break-in, and clearer, more consistent communication from management/staff (including reliable availability) would help residents a lot.

Not worth the price

Pros

Laundry in-unit, close to train, good size apt and kitchen, gym

Cons

Bad noise bleed from the hallway, disruptive neighbors, lots of loud kids, cleaning lady is always on the phone when she cleans and we can hear it, someone got arrested in the hallway, had to insulate door and windows ourselves, hot water has gone out twice, can hear the church bells every hour, gym is small
