Overall a good place to live
Pros
With a few exceptions, they are quick to respond to maintenance requests. The location is fantastic. There is in unit laundry that rarely has issues. No bug issues or rat issues at all.
Cons
The hallways are not cleaned very often. The laundry room in the basement is also often very dirty. Some of the rooms are very small and there is no living space, but you know that going in.
Advice to the owners
It would be nice if the hallways were cleaned more often.
Not the worst
Pros
Building is clearly old but recently gut-renovated. There is central air and heating systems in each room. Two laundry machines in the basement. Really good location.
Cons
Two of the bedrooms in our 3-bed were TINY and the living room/kitchen was clearly flexed into a 3rd bedroom. The building is really poorly-insulated so even with the heating units turned on all the time the place is never warm in the winter. The basement is dirty and often flooded and there is only one washer and one dryer. The property owners were responsive by email but do not hold security deposits in escrow/don’t return the full thing with interest which is illegal <3. Also I did see a cockroach on the stairs the day I moved out.
Advice to the owners
Insulate the building, obey tenant security deposit laws, get an exterminator in asap before the cockroach sitch becomes more of a problem.
