Decent, but frustrating
Pros
The best things about this apartment are obviously the price, rent stabilization, and location. Heat/hot water are included and work well (at least in my unit). I find my unit to be fairly quiet, with minimal sounds heard from neighbors or from outside.
Cons
The super, Jimmy, is a nightmare. He is constantly rude and condescending, and acts like you are bothering him if you ask for the most basic of maintenance (ie, his literal job). I cannot emphasize enough how unpleasant it is do speak to him. Despite my every attempt at being polite, courteous, biting my tongue when he is blantantly rude to me, he continues to be nothing short of nasty. I am not a person who ever complains, I really hate conflict or confrontation, and I especially don't like to make complaints about workers even when they are doing badly at their jobs. In general I am passive and try not to let people's attitudes bother me. But this...is a next level sort of situatuion. If there were one thing I would change about living here, it would be having him be part of the experience. Additionally: there are roaches in the building. To an extent this is not unusual in a big old building, but I think more could be done on behalf of the property to mitigate the issue. A lot of packages mysteriously go missing from the lobby.
Advice to the owners
Please please please hire a different super.
