Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews of buildings managed by Doron Kessel reveal mixed experiences with management responsiveness. Tenants often acknowledge timely responses to maintenance requests, but persistent issues like pest infestations, unreliable hot water, and water damage are common. Garbage management and cleanliness ratings vary, with some buildings noted for poor upkeep and noisy environments. While some appreciate the location and certain apartment features, recurring complaints about disturbances from neighbors, structural problems, and inconsistent maintenance suggest room for improvement in building care and communication. Prospective renters should be prepared for ongoing challenges despite occasional promptness from management.

Temporarily ok to live there

Pros

Close to express trains, washer/dryer in apartment

Cons

Bug infestations inside, outside at night there’s lots of rats and mice directly in front of the building, noisy street.

Persistent Water Issues

Pros

I love the neighborhood and its proximity to the subway and riverside park. Plus the windows, outdoor access, and hardwood floors are stunning. And laundry in unit is always a win.

Cons

The owners do not seem to care about building maintenance at all. I’ve lived in this apartment for just over a year and in that time I’ve had: a leak in the wall from my kitchen sink that caused my downstairs neighbor’s bathroom ceiling to COLLAPSE from water damage; a leak in my living room ceiling that took 4 months to repair; a leak in my bathroom ceiling that they plastered over when I moved in and then in the past 3 months has progressively gotten worse that despite being reported immediately, is still actively leaking into my bathroom even though they said it was “fixed” and sent the super to plaster it again; a persistent pest problem (the building briefly stopped hiring an exterminator before we pressured them to restart this service); and hot water that routinely stops working for days at a time.

Advice to the owners

Please maintain your building; it’s a gorgeous building but the water damage is actually atrocious
