Apartments in good cause buildings for rent near colleges in Washington Heights, Manhattan

Good cause refers to a tenant-protection category for buildings where certain rent increases and non-renewals are limited. It is not a neighborhood label, and it does not change the fact that you still need to review the lease, fees, and building rules.

There are 0 apartments for rent in this scope right now. The median rent is $3,245, so budget for units above or below that depending on size, location, and building conditions.

No. This page is not income-restricted, subsidized, or housing-lottery housing. Openigloo's good cause filter is a market listing filter that focuses on tenant-protection status, not official affordable-housing programs.

Good cause is about certain tenant protections in eligible buildings. It does not mean the apartment is part of NYCHA, Section 8, HPD, or a housing lottery, and it does not guarantee lower rent based on income.

The filter uses the page's market scope and looks for buildings that meet the good cause category within that scope. It is a renter tool for sorting apartments for rent, not a program that sets your income eligibility or fixes your rent by rule.

Ask about the full monthly cost, including broker fee, deposit, utilities, and any move-in charges. Also confirm lease length, renewal terms, and whether the building's tenant-protection status applies to the exact unit you want.

Location near campus, building age, amenities, lease terms, and move-in costs can all change what a place really costs. Two apartments with similar asking rent can differ a lot once fees and utilities are added.
