Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 170 Amsterdam Avenue praise its excellent location, abundant natural light from large windows, and clean, quiet apartments with strong water pressure. Many residents appreciate the friendly and responsive staff, well-maintained amenities such as the gym, and the presence of in-unit laundry facilities. However, some renters note the building is expensive, with occasional rent increases and concerns about value for mid-grade finishes. Noise from ongoing construction and persistent elevator issues have also been raised, alongside calls for improved security and hallways refurbishment. Overall, tenants find it a desirable, well-managed building but suggest enhancements in maintenance and communication.

Great building, probably overpriced
Former Tenant
Pros:
In unit washer dryer, great light, modern finishes
Cons:
very expensive compared to other neighborhood buildings, especially with the tax abatement fee (they really jack it up after your first year)

Excellent Building with Great Location
Former Tenant
Pros:
I’ve lived here for almost two years and been very happy. The staff is nice and very responsive. The gym is very nice and clean. The apartment is clean with great water pressure and nice natural light from big windows. It’s centrally located.
Cons:
The landlord raised the rent somewhat significantly and now only use an AI assistant for communications. I would have liked to have stayed with Equity but needed a bigger space and could not meaningfully engage with Equity to try to finer one.
Advice to owner:
Make a better effort to keep good tenants who want to stay.
