ALL THE PESTS
Former Tenant
Pros:
- Usually easy to find available laundry machines (even though only 4 washers and 4 dryers). Laundry card is through HiRise Laundry – you could reload it in the basement, machine took $5+ bills. - Lots of trash bins outside.
Cons:
- Management is only reachable by phone business hours on weekdays - GERMAN ROACHES!!!!! POURING OUT OF THE WALLS. Impossible to get rid of them, even with the exterminator coming weekly, Advion gel bait, glue traps, etc. The kitchen and bathroom were constantly overrun with roaches on the counters, stove, fridge, cabinets. The garbage chute was also infested. Ground floor apartments had it even worse – kitchen drawers were literally filled with them. - Sewer flies too! Would find a few dead ones on the floor every week. And always a few in the hallways. - Did not find mice in my apartment but it was a frequent complaint from other tenants. - Rent has to be paid by check in the mail (with a rent slip that you're given at lease signing), or by dropping off at their office on W 73rd. - Elevator is very old, slow, seems on the brink of breaking down. - Always a huuge pile of packages in the hallway - Plumbing fixtures are very old. Kitchen faucet didn't swivel and there was no sprayer
Advice to owner:
Start breeding house centipedes, otherwise this place will forever be infested with roaches

Decent apartment building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Quiet, affordable, apartment itself was clean when we moved in. The landlord can be responsive to some requests.
Cons:
Building is not well maintained or cleaned, packages really pile up at the door, some pest issues. Roaches and mice. Rent can only be paid by mail with a check slip.

They make it hard
Former Tenant
Pros:
It's decently affordable.
Cons:
The management is completely inaccessible, they will not let you into the office, won't answer the phone and will not give you an email address. The super is great, but if he can't fix anything you are pretty much screwed. Bad pest problems.
Advice to owner:
They know what they need to do and choose not to do it

Decent building managed by a company who thinks it’s still 1975
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, laundry in basement, ok pricing, nice super and garbage guys
Cons:
The management. They barely use computers. Rent has to be sent via check, using paper receipt slips. They also haven’t updated the elevator in years clearly. Several buttons don’t light up, and in 6 months it has broken 12 times that I know of, and management doesn’t have a backup for the super. So when the super is on vacation you’re stuck.
Advice to owner:
Move into the 21st century and take some pride in your building.

Advice to owner:
Drafty place but convenient

Pros:
Location is perfect on a quiet street!
Cons:
Had a mice problem for over a year that management couldn’t get a handle on.
