Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 206 West 109 Street reflect a mix of positive and negative experiences. Renters appreciate the building's modern finishes, in-unit laundry, convenient location near Columbia University, and relatively quiet neighbors. However, consistent concerns include poor cleanliness and garbage management, pest issues (notably rats), and unreliable heating systems. Residents frequently cite slow or unresponsive management, with reports of delayed maintenance and lack of thorough building upkeep. While some find the rent reasonable, others mention steep increases without improvements. The absence of an elevator and occasional noise in common areas also detract from the experience. Overall, renters emphasize the need for better management and maintenance to improve living conditions.

I resent this building
Former Tenant
Pros:
The finishes are modern. We have in unit laundry. Decent rent price. I haven’t experienced rats.
Cons:
Management did not clean the apartment prior to move in despite saying they would. The place was filthy. Management takes forever to respond. Our stove barely works. Our hot water didn’t work for the first 2 weeks we lived there, now it’s fine but there are days sporadically without hot water. Our washer dryer broke, and it took 2 months to get it replaced. There are random people who smoke weed in the entry way and just hang out. They don’t care about their tenants or maintain the building. A roach in the building will appear once in a while.
Advice to owner:
Care about your tenants. Don’t treat them like garbage. Some basic respect goes a long way.

lived here for a year, not too bad
Former Tenant
Pros:
super was responsive, convenient location close to Columbia.
Cons:
no central heating, there were electric radiators installed so the electricity bill in the winters were high
also the stairs smelled bad, kind of like garbage and old homes, but the apartment smelled fine
there was laundry in unit, but it was a washer and dryer in one and it didn't fully dry the clothes. Also it kept breaking down because the filter was clogged or something, people came to fix it but it would break within a week
