Not a great experience
Pros
I liked the location, lots of cool bars and restaurants in the area and it’s pretty close to the train and right next to a few bus lines. Decent closet space in the bedrooms. The living room and kitchen was pretty big and the apartment also had tons of great natural light in every room. The woman who works in the office, Valerie, is very kind and responsive, but that’s only if she’s the one you talk to.
Cons
In my time living there, we had tons of pests. We dealt with cockroaches and we dealt with mice the entire time. We asked the landlords to send an exterminator multiple times and they only sent one once in the course of my time there. They have laundry in building but you have to go all the way to crown heights to the office to refill the money on your laundry card, so it’s easier to just use the laundromat across the street. My apartment had water pressure issues and the pipes kept clogging in the bathroom sink. We called the landlord multiple times to fix this issue and they said they would send someone and never did. When I moved in, there were holes in the walls and a bug red stain on the wooden floor of our living room that looked like blood. I tried scrubbing at it and could get some of it up but it wouldn’t go away. The fridge shelves were broken and they never sent us the proper replacements so we used a baking sheet as a shelf. All in all, I’m very happy to be moved out.
Advice to the owners
Be more responsive and kind to your tenants, and be proactive about pest control.
