It could be great but will never change, don't risk it

Location, apartment size/layout
Cons
Roaches (better pack your glue traps and bug spray because even with consistent mitigation measures in our unit the roaches persisted); heat and hot water go out on a monthly basis and management is slow to respond; even when heat is working it's barely above 65; common areas are not regularly kept clean (swept/mopped); the front planting areas are always overgrown and the eyesore of Clinton Ave; elevator breaks a lot; some good neighbors and some really bad ones (screaming obscenities in the hallways, smoking in common areas, pounding on the floors); management is extremely unresponsive, taking months and months for simple repairs. Do not rent in this building, you will regret it. The turnover is crazy, every month someone is moving out.
Advice to the owners
With just moderate effort this building could be great. Keep it clean, get rid of the roaches, maintaint the front plantings, and fix the boiler.
A shame this building isn't better kept up
Pros
Location, Layout and Size of units/bedrooms, neighbors are incredibly nice, little/to no noise, the building has thick walls (no one ever heard our dog barking)
Cons
Had to move out due to terrible cockroach infestation. Boiler in basement consistently overflowed, affecting radiators causing them to spew water/not work/make incredibly loud knocking noises keeping us up throughout the night.
Advice to the owners
Remedy cockroach infestation & heating/water issues.
