Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for buildings managed by John Imperatore reveal significant issues with cleanliness and pest control, often citing roaches and unkempt garbage areas. While some residents praise the location, heat, and responsiveness of management, many express frustration over deteriorating conditions, such as maintenance delays and inadequate building management. Common requests include more frequent cleaning, pest prevention measures, and renovations to improve living conditions. Neighbors are generally viewed positively, but concerns regarding noise levels and a lack of proper upkeep remain prevalent. Overall, while management shows some responsiveness, the properties often fall short of tenants’ expectations for quality and maintenance.

Great location but just worn down building

Pros

I loved this neighborhood so much however this building has a lot to work on. The food at the restaurant below was also amazing and the staff were like family

Cons

Quickly into moving in we had a roach problem, and as much as the exterminator would come it seems like nothing would help. It’s clear they are coming from the restaurant below (don’t let that stop you from getting their food because it’s fantastic) and no matter how much the exterminator would come the building just needs some updating. The men below at the restaurant are the sweetest ever, but that couldn’t keep me on the lease as I was tired of living uncomfortably with the conditions of the building. I also lived on the top floor where there were only windows in the bedroom, so you are unable to put an ac throughout the apartment and it would get insanely hot in the summer. Even with AC in both bedrooms and a fan in the living room it’s gonna be about 90 degrees in there on a day it’s like 95 outside.

Advice to the owners

Try and renovate a little and get the place below an exterminator. Also the front door sometimes didn’t lock, so fix that and clean the hallways much more

Disgusting and Evil

Pros

I really can’t think of any. I guess the appliances worked?

Cons

The worst place I’ve lived in 20 years in Mew York. Illegally overcharged for rent in a rat filled building with standing sewage in the basement.
