Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Jacob Weinreb's buildings paint a mixed picture. While some properties offer spacious, well-located units with responsive supers and a sense of community, many tenants report severe management shortcomings. Common issues include unresponsiveness to repair requests, prolonged scaffolding, persistent pest infestations, outdated infrastructure, and poor cleanliness. Elevator malfunctions and heating problems frequently disrupt residents' comfort. Rent increases amidst unresolved issues heighten dissatisfaction. Several reviews cite a lack of investment into maintenance and a perceived focus on financial gains over tenant wellbeing. Prospective renters should expect variable experiences, with some buildings better managed than others but overall management often criticized for slow responses and neglect.

It is what it is

Pros

I’m in a rent stabilized/rent control apt. My apartment is very spacious because it is pre war.

Cons

The management hires building supers based on certain tenants request. ie: previous super was here for decades. New super is the son of a super from the building next to this one owned by the same management. The Super of building “hires” outside persons (some being addicts) to clean the hallways. And it is horrible! Never ever sweeps the floors and uses dirty water to drag the mop over each floor! Neighbors are nasty and refuse to put their garbage down the garbage shoot they just pile it up in the compactor room! Building has just been on a decline for years.

Advice to the owners

We are human beings though we’re not the same we should have a clean building that is maintained properly

Quiet UWS co-op building

Pros

Nice and quiet building in a neighborhood with access to many stores and supermarkets nearby. It has a lived-in super.

Cons

It's an older building with dated laudry faciliy in the basement.
