Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Reviews for 100 John Street describe a building with friendly doormen, convenient location near transit, and spacious apartments featuring strong water pressure and good heating. However, residents frequently cite chronic elevator breakdowns, ongoing lengthy construction with persistent scaffolding, and poor management responsiveness. Laundry facilities are poorly maintained, often broken, and unhygienic. Pest issues, especially silverfish and occasional roaches, are recurrent complaints with inadequate management action. Noise levels vary, with some finding it quiet and others disturbed by construction or neighbors. Safety concerns, lack of natural light, and rent increases without matching quality contribute to mixed satisfaction. Overall, while amenities and staff are praised, management and building upkeep significantly impact renter experience.

Rly good building!
Former Tenant
Pros:
Doorman are so kind. The garbage management is great if I leave something out it’s gonna immediately. There is always somebody who works for the building
Cons:
The laundry room sucks. The card system is outdated and the machine machines are often broken. Usually at least one elevator is broken. The appliances are a little on the cheaper end and my microwave has broken twice. During the summer there are a lot of silverfish.

Decent building, not luxury
Former Tenant
Pros:
Friendly building staff, relatively spacious apartments, good closet space, excellent water pressure
Cons:
In the four years I lived there the scaffolding was up the entire time, there were constant broken elevators, broken lobby AC, no gym, no rooftop access, old and outdated hallways. Rent increases did not match the quality of the building
Advice to owner:
Finish the construction. It’s been going on for years!
