Buildings with heat and hot water included near Lafayette Av station in NYC

It means the building is flagged as including heat and hot water as part of the monthly rent for the eligible units. Still, confirm the exact scope in writing with the management company because inclusions can vary by unit or lease terms.

Openigloo shows 21+ buildings that match the heat-hot-water-included filter along with the Lafayette Av area filter.

Not always. Even when a building is flagged for included heat and hot water, unit-level differences can exist. Ask which apartments have utilities included and request that wording be included in your lease or rider.

You may still pay other costs (for example, broker-related fees, deposits, or building fees like laundry/parking). Also ask whether utilities are capped or handled differently in specific cases so you can estimate your full monthly cost accurately.

You can review building details and rely on Openigloo signals such as rated-building context plus tenant Q&A and notes that highlight practical issues to ask about during showings.

Ask for (1) written confirmation of what’s included (heat and hot water), (2) any exceptions or unit eligibility rules, (3) how temperature/hot-water performance is handled seasonally, and (4) where that language appears in the lease.

Treat it as a verification item. Ask for the building’s policy in writing for your specific unit, and confirm any exceptions or limitations before you pay an application fee or sign.
