What to check before choosing a building highly rated for heat near the BX7 bus in Washington Heights
- Confirm how “best-heat” is measured for each building by checking the heat-related notes from rated buildings, not just an overall score.
- Use the BX7 bus proximity to narrow commute time, but still verify the exact block/entry location shown on the building page.
- Before signing, ask what happens if heat is inconsistent (typical response time, who handles repairs, and how maintenance requests are logged).
- Budget for the FULL monthly cost beyond rent: deposits, possible move-in fees, utilities, and any required broker-related or building-required charges.
- If a unit has separate heat controls, ask how the thermostat/radiators are managed for that specific layout (building-wide averages can differ by apartment).
