What does the “best-heat” filter mean on Openigloo?

It highlights buildings that perform better on heat-related signals from renter experience and building-level data patterns. It’s meant to help you shortlist, not guarantee comfort in every unit.

How should I use “near-transit” if my commute varies by time of day?

Treat it as a location convenience filter. Still confirm which station entrances are closest for your routes at peak and off-peak times, since block-by-block differences can change walking time.

Are these 23+ buildings guaranteed to have reliable heat all year?

No. Filters surface trends, but individual units and seasons can differ. Ask the building directly about current maintenance practices and any recent heat-related issues.

What questions should I ask the super or management about heat before renting?

Ask how heat is controlled (thermostats/radiators), typical response time for problems, whether any units run hotter or cooler than others, and what they recommend if temperatures drop.

Is there anything to watch for when the building is near transit?

Confirm noise and insulation expectations, especially for units facing busy streets or rail corridors. Transit access is convenient, but it can affect comfort.

Where does the information come from?

Openigloo combines building pages that include review context and renter-submitted signals. Use the filters to narrow, then read the specific building page details and tenant Q&A to understand the practical day-to-day reality.

What to check before choosing a building highly rated for heat near transit in Sunnyside

Use “best-heat” to narrow to buildings with stronger heat-related outcomes, then verify unit-by-unit comfort and radiator/thermostat behavior with the broker or super.
Use “near-transit” to reduce commute friction, but confirm actual walking time and nearby entrances for your specific schedule and lines.
Before signing, ask what’s included in heating and whether the building has any known seasonal issues (for example, response times when heat is inconsistent).
Check lease terms carefully: some buildings may allow temporary fixes while maintenance schedules catch up, so document expectations in writing.
Compare total monthly cost, not just rent, since utilities can affect how “heat” translates into your real monthly expense.
