Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants renting buildings managed by Abraham Reiss experience a wide range of building conditions and management responsiveness. Some properties boast clean, well-maintained common areas, friendly neighbors, and attentive staff, creating a positive living environment. However, issues such as recurring elevator breakdowns, pest infestations, scaffolding lingering for years, and delayed repairs are common complaints. Renters frequently note poor communication or slow owner responsiveness, especially in older or rent-stabilized buildings. While some tenants appreciate the landlord's improvements in certain locations, others strongly advise management to prioritize timely maintenance, pest control, and infrastructure upgrades to enhance tenant satisfaction and building livability.

Good building, great location

Pros

It is what it is

Pros

I’m in a rent stabilized/rent control apt. My apartment is very spacious because it is pre war.

Cons

The management hires building supers based on certain tenants request. ie: previous super was here for decades. New super is the son of a super from the building next to this one owned by the same management. The Super of building “hires” outside persons (some being addicts) to clean the hallways. And it is horrible! Never ever sweeps the floors and uses dirty water to drag the mop over each floor! Neighbors are nasty and refuse to put their garbage down the garbage shoot they just pile it up in the compactor room! Building has just been on a decline for years.

Advice to the owners

We are human beings though we’re not the same we should have a clean building that is maintained properly
