What does “best-heat” mean on this page?

It’s an Openigloo filter meant to surface buildings that perform well on heat-related indicators, based on building-level signals and tenant feedback available on the platform.

Are these buildings near Nostrand Av station only, or throughout Brooklyn?

This page is scoped to buildings around Nostrand Av station, using that station area as the location constraint combined with the “best-heat” filter.

How should I use the ratings on Openigloo for heat reliability?

Use them as a starting point to build a short list. Read the context in tenant feedback and Q&A, then verify details directly with the building before signing.

What questions should I ask before committing to a lease?

Ask how heat is regulated during the season, how quickly maintenance responds, whether there are common unit-level issues, and who controls or services radiators/thermostats.

Is there anything in the lease I should pay attention to for heating?

Yes. Look for clauses covering heat/hot water service, who is responsible for repairs, and how utilities are billed (included or separate).

Can heat problems vary by apartment, even if the building is rated?

Yes. Building-level signals can’t guarantee unit-by-unit performance. Check the specific unit’s setup and ask about any past heating issues for that apartment or line.

Do I need to view additional documents or ask for proof?

It’s a good idea. Ask for recent maintenance/service documentation related to heating and hot water, and confirm expectations in writing if the building offers any specific assurances.
