Buildings highly rated for heat near the S79-SBS bus in NYC

It’s a building filter based on Openigloo signals tied to heat performance. The goal is to surface buildings that tend to work well for winter comfort, but unit-level conditions can still differ.

This page limits eligible buildings to those aligned with the S79-SBS bus route area so you can prioritize commute convenience while still filtering for heat performance.

No. The filter helps narrow your options, not guarantee outcomes. Ask the leasing office about your unit type (radiator vs. HVAC), how heat is controlled, and what response times look like for heat complaints.

Ask for (1) the heating system in your unit, (2) whether heat is consistent during the coldest months, (3) how maintenance requests are handled, and (4) what to do if heat is inadequate.

Yes. Even when a building is selected for heat performance, your full monthly cost can depend on utilities and how they’re billed in your lease. Confirm what’s included and what isn’t.

Openigloo uses renter-facing signals such as ratings/notes and building-relevant open data signals, plus tenant Q&A where available. Still, treat it as a starting point and validate with the building directly.

Look for patterns related to heat reliability, maintenance response, and whether issues were resolved quickly. Then ask follow-up questions that match your unit layout and concerns.
