What does “best-heat” mean on Openigloo?

“Best-heat” is a filter that surfaces buildings with higher Openigloo heat-related ratings. You should still read the review notes to understand what tenants meant (thermostat control, consistency, response time).

How does this page focus on NYU Langone?

This page combines the best-heat filter with a NYU Langone proximity constraint, so the results emphasize buildings that are closer to NYU Langone Hospital than a citywide search.

Are these buildings available for rent right now?

This page is scoped by building fit (heat rating + NYU Langone proximity), not by availability. When you open a building, check the current apartments for rent on Openigloo to see what’s being advertised now.

Does “highly rated for heat” guarantee every unit is warm?

No. Heating experience can vary by unit and exposure, even inside the same building. Use the ratings as a starting point and confirm the heating details with the building or current residents.

What should I ask before I sign if heat matters most?

Ask about thermostat control (who can adjust it), how quickly maintenance responds to temperature complaints, how heat is handled for corner/upper-floor units, and whether utilities are included or billed separately.

Where does Openigloo’s heat signal come from?

It’s based on Openigloo building-level ratings and review context, supplemented by open-data signals when available. Because tenant experiences evolve, check the most recent notes.

What if I notice conflicting comments about heating?

Treat it as a prompt to investigate. Look for patterns (seasonality, response times, specific maintenance issues) and ask the building to describe how they address temperature complaints for your target unit type.
